Choose a library first
Use the source picker in the upper left to select the local library that should receive the files. Create another library for a separate collection; use playlists within a library for lighter organization. Remote sources have their own browsing flow and do not need to be reimported as local files. See Remote music sources.
Add files or folders
Open Import / New and choose Import audio… for individual files or Import folder… to scan a directory and its subdirectories. You can watch progress and cancel if needed. When the import finishes, look in All Songs or Recently Imported, then add tracks to playlists. Large imports need time to read tags and artwork.
The picker accepts MP3, FLAC, WAV, OGG, M4A, AAC, AIFF, and some other containers. Being selectable does not guarantee that every codec inside a container can be decoded. If one file fails, try another file of the same format before drawing a broader conclusion.
Keep a folder up to date
- Add the directory under Settings → Library & Storage → Music scan folders.
- Turn on Automatically scan library folders under Settings → General.
The current implementation scans configured folders on startup and watches for changes while running. Removable drives and network shares must stay accessible.
If a file moves
A track entry or artwork can remain after its source file is renamed, moved, or disconnected. Restore the original location or reconnect the drive. If the file has moved permanently, import it from the new location and check for duplicates. A single missing file does not require resetting the whole library.
The web player uses the browser’s file picker and storage. It does not run WinUI folder scanning or file watching, and its library is separate from the desktop library.
