Keep your music on your NAS or server and connect to it from the WinUI source picker. You do not need to import remote listings into a local library.
Add a connection
- Open the source picker and choose Add remote source….
- Give it a name and choose a source type.
- Enter the service endpoint, optional root path, and credentials required by your server.
- Select Test connection, review the result, then save.
- Reopen the source picker and select the saved connection.

Use the protocol endpoint, not the server’s admin website. For Navidrome, choose Subsonic. Whether to enter a WebDAV root path depends on whether the endpoint already points to your music directory.
Browse and play
If the server exposes multiple libraries, choose one before browsing. The native host resolves remote media for playback and reports connection or parsing errors. Load more expands the list, but the current preview stops at 5,000 tracks. A partial list is not the entire server library.
Troubleshoot a connection
- Test fails: check server availability, protocol, endpoint, credentials, and root path.
- Connected but empty: check the selected library, directory permissions, and music path.
- Tracks appear but will not play: check that the files still exist, resource URLs are valid, and the network is available.
- After switching servers or libraries: let the current load finish, then confirm the source name.
