Apart, and still on the same song
Listen Together plays the same song on two devices at the same moment. Start something from your own library, send your friend a six-digit code, and once they join you listen in sync. The music comes from your library, so they don’t need the files.
Key features
- A six-digit code
- In sync
- You decide who controls it
- The best route, picked for you
Highlights
A six-digit code
Starting a session gives you a 6-digit code that works for 5 minutes. Your friend enters it to ask to join, and nothing connects until you choose Allow.
In sync
It starts from the song you are playing, then follows your queue (up to 500 songs), in the same order and at the same position on both sides.
You decide who controls it
Only the host controls playback at first. Choose Let them control when you want your friend to pause and skip too.
The best route, picked for you
Devices on the same network connect directly. Elsewhere, OFPlayer tries a direct P2P connection and falls back to a relay. LAN and P2P connections use no relay allowance.
Start a session
Play a song
In OFPlayer for Windows or Android, play something from your own library. Listen Together starts from that song and your queue.
Open Listen Together
Choose Listen together, then Listen with a friend. A 6-digit code appears with the time it is valid until.
Send the code
Your friend opens Listen together in their OFPlayer and enters the code to ask to join.
Allow them in
When the request appears, make sure you recognize the device, then choose Allow. Once connected, both devices play together.
Or just share your library
In OFPlayer for Windows, choose Share my library under Listen together to let a phone or another computer browse and play this computer’s music. Playback on the computer isn’t affected.
Who can host and who can join
Sending an invitation needs an OFPlayer account with an OFPlayer Hub subscription. Joining is free. Each session currently connects two devices: the host and one guest.
Where it stands
Listen Together is in testing and available in OFPlayer for Windows and Android. Connection time and playback over the internet are still being improved. If a session takes long to start or stutters, compare another network using the network troubleshooting guide.

Frequently asked questions
Does my friend need the same songs?
No. Listen Together plays songs from the host’s library, and the host’s device sends the audio to the guest.
Do I have to pay?
Hosting needs an OFPlayer Hub subscription; joining someone else’s session is free. Hub also includes every OFPlayer Pro feature.
How many people can listen?
Each session currently connects two devices: the host and one guest.
Can a computer and a phone listen together?
Yes. OFPlayer for Windows and Android can invite and join each other, and two computers or two phones work too.
What is relay allowance?
When two devices can’t connect directly, the audio goes through an OFPlayer relay server, and that traffic counts toward your Hub relay allowance. LAN and direct P2P connections don’t use it.
Why does it take long to start, or stutter?
Proxies, VPNs, game accelerators or a transparent proxy on the router can change the route the audio takes. Where you can, bypass the proxy or try another network for comparison, then start a new session.
