The music on your PC, playing on your phone

OFPlayer for Windows can share the library on your computer with OFPlayer for Android over your local network. Pair the phone once, then browse and play the computer’s music without copying files or going through the cloud.

Key features

Highlights

No copying

Songs stay on the computer’s drive and the phone reads them as it plays. The original files are streamed, so FLAC is not transcoded and you can seek freely.

Secure pairing

Pair with the QR code or pairing code on the computer. The connection is encrypted and checks the computer’s certificate. Each code works once, and the phone reconnects on its own afterwards.

Tracks and covers synced

After pairing, the computer’s track details and covers sync to the phone, so you browse it like a local library.

Stays on your network

Streaming happens inside your local network. The audio never passes through OFPlayer servers and uses no relay allowance.

Start streaming

Install OFPlayer on the computer

Install OFPlayer for Windows (26.0.6 or later is recommended) and allow phones on your local network to connect to it.

Enable pairing

On the computer, open Settings › Devices and choose Enable pairing. A QR code and a pairing code appear.

Connect from the phone

In OFPlayer for Android, open Connect a computer. Pick the nearby computer, scan the QR code, or enter the pairing code shown on the computer.

Sync, then play

Wait for the library to sync, then pick a song as usual. Pairing and syncing are separate steps: “Connected” alone is not enough to play.

When the phone can’t find the computer

Make sure both devices use the same Wi-Fi and that OFPlayer is running on the computer. From Windows 26.0.6, use Check status and Repair firewall in Settings › Devices. The computer’s Wi-Fi must be set to a Private network in Windows. Pairing codes expire and change after each use. Use the code the computer shows now, not one from an old screenshot. Guest networks, AP isolation on the router, a VPN or a proxy can stop the two devices from reaching each other.

Frequently asked questions

How is streaming different from copying files to my phone?

The music stays on the computer and the phone only reads it while playing, so it takes no space on the phone. Away from that network you can’t stream; play local music on the phone or connect a WebDAV or Navidrome server instead.

Do I need to pay to stream?

LAN streaming and playback handoff are OFPlayer Pro features, and an active OFPlayer Hub subscription includes them. Local playback, remote libraries and the rest work within the free version’s limits.

Is my music uploaded to the cloud?

No. Streaming happens directly on your local network: the audio goes from the computer to the phone without passing through OFPlayer servers.

Is lossless audio compressed?

No. The phone reads the original file on the computer, so FLAC and other lossless files play as they are. FLAC, MP3, M4A, OGG and WAV are all supported.

Does it work with iPhone?

Not at the moment. The phone side needs an Android device with Android 12 or later.
